In the first of our Online Learning Spaces, Communications Adviser for the national Greenhouse Team, Ruth Green, offers thoughts on how our experiences and stories can help the Greenhouse community, with some helpful pointers on sharing them.
Important Note
The suggestions in this recording are to be taken in the context of your usual safeguarding and data protection training. With that in mind, these are a few relevant reminders on the storytelling theme:
- Ensure that any people featured in your stories have given their permission for you to share it in the places intended. Take special care over the sharing of information that may be sensitive and personal, omitting where necessary. If in doubt, check with your diocesan communications adviser.
- Similarly, ensure that any identifiable people featured in videos or photos have given their written agreement for it to be shared in the places intended. Your communications adviser may well have a standard model release form you can use for this.
- If you intend to share a story in a space that is fully public (such as in open social media platforms like X), always let your diocesan communications adviser know first.
If you would like to ask Ruth's advice about any aspect of storytelling, or if you have a story suggestion that could be shared with all Greenhouses for learning, she would love to hear from you. Contact us here and Ruth will respond just as soon as she can.
