Greenhouse is offering training in coaching skills, because we think the value of good coaching conversations with Teams between Gatherings can’t be overstated.
- Coaching leads to people moving around the Missional Journey.
- Coaching helps Teams to get to where they want to be with their new worshipping community.
Training days
Greenhouse is offering two onsite training sessions, each lasting two days, (10am - 4.30pm each day), where participants are taught the GROW model of coaching, and how it can be used to help their Greenhouse Teams progress around the Missional Journey.
The two days are very hands-on, and coaching conversations are practised as well as being taught. The sessions will be led by Tim Lea from Fresh Expressions UK and Cathy Myers from the national Greenhouse team.
Training dates
The training will take place on the following date:
- February 5th and 6th 2025 at St Peter's West Molesey Community Hub, Molesey, KT8 2LG.
The training is offered free of charge to all GH facilitators*, but dioceses will need to cover overnight accommodation (as needed), and travel.
How to book
Spaces are limited so please email the national Greenhouse team to book yourself in, or use the booking forms below:-
Coaching Hubs
For people who’ve already been on the training, Tim will run monthly Coaching Hubs** on Zoom (very similar to the Facilitators' Gatherings). People who’ve been trained will bring what they want to discuss – e.g. contracting, incisive questions. It's a chance to benefit from others' wisdom and to talk about what’s going on within your coaching conversations and your Greenhouse.
Hub dates
The dates for these Hubs in 2025 are:
- Jan Tues 21st 12noon-1.30pm
- Feb Thurs 20th 3pm-4.30pm
- Mar Wed 19th 7pm-8.30pm
- Apr Tues 29th 12noon-1.30pm
- May Thurs 22nd 3pm-4.30pm
How to book in to a Hub
You'll need to sign up to the Coaching Hubs in advance in order to attend - please do so here.
Please note: If you are planning on attending the Coaching Skills training, do make sure you have the dates above (after you have done the training) in your diary.
Greenhouse Teams coaching
Tim will offer six sessions of coaching to a Team within each diocese. The Team will be chosen by you, the Facilitators, and this is offered as an opportunity for you to watch Tim coaching and then (towards the end of the six weeks) for him to observe you coaching. This can be agreed directly with Tim, and is a great opportunity to really embed coaching conversations and your coaching skills.
*Where there is space, we may be able to offer the training to people who aren’t Facilitators, but are committed to offering coaching conversations to Teams in the Greenhouse as a support to the Facilitator. Please note that it is not advisable for a Team leader to coach their own Team, so participants must be able to commit to coaching other Teams within the Greenhouse.
** Those who are already experienced/qualified/accredited coaches – or who have previously been on Tim’s two-day GROW coaching skills course – are very welcome to join the Coaching Hubs.
